Disneyland - The Blue Bayou Restaurant
Dave and I had an amazing meal here! The restaurant is inside the opening bayou scene of Pirates of the Caribbean in New Orleans Square--very atmospheric! It's always dim twilight in the restaurant, which made it difficult to read the menu. Well, they fixed that with these cool new menu books that have built-in LED lights; the paper menu goes on top of the light source, making it look almost like a tablet computer (I wish I had thought to take a picture of the menu!). We both ordered the Slow-roasted Beef Strip Loin. The menu described it this way: "Carved-to-order, served with crispy shoestring onions, Blue Bayou au gratin potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and green peppercorn Armagnac sauce" [Armagnac is a type of brandy]. It also came with a house salad and a bread basket. Every single thing we were served was fantastic! The beef just melted in your mouth, the brandy peppercorn sauce was very flavorful with just the right note of spiciness, the vegetables included delicious baby squash that I'd never had before, the bread choices included a wonderful herbed focaccia...I could go on and on! It was totally worth the $41.00 price!
